Uploading Images to OMERO

Insight Client Configuration

Example: CIBSS-Publications OMERO Server

To upload images, you need to use OMERO.insight, the desktop client of OMERO. To download, go to: https://www.openmicroscopy.org/omero/downloads and install the plugin that suits your operating system.

When ready, start the application. You will be prompted with a login window.

Click on the wrench icon. In the following window, you will be asked to enter the server name. Enter the server address as it's shown:

Click Apply, and when you return to the login window, enter your university credentials to login (one you use to login to your computer).

Once you login, click on the shown import icon to enter the importing screen.

Navigate on your local machine to the directory which contains the images you want to upload. Select all, and click on the sideways arrow to mark them for upload.

If you want to assign the images to a specific Project and/or Dataset, you'll need to create the respectice Project and Dataset in the main screen once login. Other than that, they can be created in the Web interface as well.

Selecting none of the Projects or Datasets will just create a new Dataset to house the images. Click on Add to the Queue.

Either click on Import, or to specify metadata, click on MDE button on the bottom right. Do not change the filenames until you see the green tick at the end of the uploads (Processing Complete).

Click on the Refresh icon at the main screen. You'll see the images uploaded under their new Datasets.
